Here you can read or post articles on a variety of topics, or respond to an existing post. A newsgroup subscription is included with your Internet access account.
We currently retain binaries for 200 days and text posts for 1800 days, helping you find the articles you're looking for. In addition, to give you the best newsgroup experience, we have no limit on the amount of data you can download!
Newsgroups are organized into subject hierarchies, with the first few letters of the newsgroup name indicating the major subject category. For your reference, here are some of the more common hierarchy abbreviations, and the topics they cover:
To view newsgroups, you must have a news reader on your computer. You may use Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird or another news reader of your choosing.
Set your news reader to use the following information:
News server: news.localnet.com
Login: Your primary LocalNet email address (i.e. username@localnet.com)
Password: Your LocalNet password
